A wonderful piece of Americana folk art.. Microscopic analysis of the wood proves it to be white pine. What a proud looking rooster he is! Totally hand carved with excellent detail. The glass eyes look amazing. This old boy has earned some war wounds in his days, the back part of his comb is missing. (of course, it will never show if you display it properly). I restore fine antiques and I restored the legs back to the base, they were loose and one was cracked at the base, it is now rock solid. Of course the wood has some age related shrinkage cracks, mostly in the base and on the underside of the rooster. The rich colors and patina are outstanding. I love the detail of the feet/claws, right down to the black tips on the claws, excellent! This is a rare and beautiful work of art. All the best, Bryan. From tail to chest…. 4 X 4 3/4.
