A beautifully resolved piece of mid-century Scandinavian woodcraft – a crane or heron carved from a single solid piece of hardwood, with no joints, no lamination, just pure form emerging from the material. The sinuous S-curve of the neck, the elegantly tapered beak, and the clean triangular negative space cut between body and wing create a sculpture that is confidently minimal without losing warmth. The wood has a lovely natural honey tone with visible grain running through the body – unvarnished or very lightly finished, giving the piece an honest, tactile quality. Stands on an integrated oval base that flows naturally from the form. Good used condition with minor surface scratches consistent with age – no chips, no breaks, structurally perfect. A faded pencil signature is visible on the underside – artist not yet identified. The carving quality, wood choice, and restrained aesthetic are fully in keeping with Scandinavian studio craft of the 1960s-70s. Scandinavian wood sculpture, hand carved heron, abstract bird sculpture, Nordic folk art, solid wood crane, Swedish vintage decor, MCM bird figurine, organic modernism, mid century wood art, abstract crane sculpture, signed wood sculpture, vintage shelf decor, Scandinavian studio craft.
