NOS set of 16 Henry Taylor Sheffield England wood carving chisels gouges tools
On one set of 16 Henry Taylor wood carving tools as pictured. All are marked with the Henry Taylor decal on the handle, and the decal reads “HENRY TAYLOR TOOLS SHEFFIELD ENGLAND” with his acorn logo. All but one (the tiniest gouge) are marked “H TAYLOR ENGLAND” on the blades. Some of those marks are really faint, especially on the gouges, and several have a few letters that are not legible. There simply wasn’t room on the tiniest gouge for much of any marking. Some also have the acorn logo on the blades. And all but the tiniest gouge are marked with a skew number as noted below. Chisel widths are measured right at the sharp end. Skew chisels measurements are taken straight across at the sharp end. Gouge widths are measured farthest outside edge to farthest outside edge near the sharp end. Included are, from left to right in the first picture. A straight chisel marked “1”. Width is about 3/8. Width is a hair under 7/8. A skew chisel marked “2”. Width is about 3/16. Width is just under 3/8. Width is about 1. It has a decal on both sides of the handle. A tiny gouge or veining tool with no markings on the blade. Width is about 1/8. A tiny gouge or veining tool marked “48”. Width is a bit under 3/16. A small gouge marked “8”. Width is just over 7/32. A shallow gouge marked “5”. Width is just under 3/4. A deeper gouge marked “9”. Width is a bit under 7/8. A curved shallow gouge marked “14”. Width is a bit over 3/4. A macaroni tool marked “49”. Outside width is about 1/2. A shallow back bent gouge marked “35”. Width is almost a 32nd over 3/4. A curved skewed gouge marked “Cog C9″ which is a Henry Taylor Cogelow tool. Width is a bit over 11/16. And a back bent skewed gouge marked “Cog C16″, another Cogelow tool. Width is about 5/8. Overall lengths of the tools including the handles vary from 8-3/4″ to 10-1/8″ for the first 14 tools, and the Cogelow tools are 12-1/8 and 1. Condition of all 16 is NOS or New Old Stock. None appear to have ever been used or sharpened. A few picked up some very small and slight spots of patina (color) or light rust, with nothing even close to pitting. Many have a gold-tinted coating on them, and a few show some loss of that coating. The winner gets all 16 tools, I’m not going to split them up. I sell what I enjoy, and I collect antique woodworking tools and I enjoy photography! The queue is overflowing with tools right now, as they seem to be finding me faster than I can list them. So please keep watching my postings as I have LOTS more to list! Searching my listings: I have lots to see! That will lead you to my extensive system of categories. You might ask: How can I know when you start new listings? Descriptions, and auctions with pictures only of the left side because the right side was trashed. I come from the handshake school of doing business, and hopefully you are like me and understand what that means. What goes around, comes around. However, that doesn’t mean that I won’t make an occasional mistake. Please don’t ask, the answer is no. I package well, and have a great track record. I use the US Post Office for everything. Every year the US Postal Service raises rates in mid to late January, and this year is no exception. So I wont do that for you, or to you. PACKAGING: Please check my feedback — I package well. I hope someday I will meet some of you as we trudge the happy road of tool collecting!
