Exquisitely Carved African Ebony Sculptures – Young Couple – probably from the mid century – West African. The artist is not known, but the quality of the sculptures is evident and is far above the usual tourist trade. The ebony most closely corresponds with reference examples of Gabon Ebony, beautifully striped. Ebony blocks have stamp “WC18″ with a crown on the bottom. No cracks, although a minor surface line on the male figure near the bottom has been treated. The couple embodied in these sculptures will inspire!
