Tribal Headhunter Carved Wooden Sculpture Severed Head 60’s 36 Height! Represents the head hunters from Borneo. Rare piece of this size (36 tall) – largest sculpture piece I’ve seen. Precision wood carving with great details. He stands proud, displaying his latest victim as he holds his lifeless head high as a headless body lays slumped at his feet. As recent as 50 years ago, the fierce Ifugao tribe would ambush neighboring tribes and take the heads of their warriors as battle trophies. This one appears to be carved from one solid piece of mahogany wood, with a deep rich finish. He measures approximately 36 high and is in very good condition with minimal wear. ITEM DESCRIPTION: Rare find. A massive 36 tall carved headhunter statue, carved from a single tree trunk. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The wood is most likely Philippine Mahogany according to a gallery specialist. Nicely detailed and a bit gory with a warrior standing over a corpse, holding up a freshly severed head. Nicely detailed, this statue will demand a prominent spot in your collection, definitely a conversation piece. CONDITION: Very good with noted repair on arm and age crack. AGE: 1950s – mid 1960s.
