Djärv Hantverk AB is a family business which specialises in making hand-forged wood carving tools. Drawing from the a long Swedish metal-working tradition, Svante Djarv has developed an incredibly high standard of tool making, producing tools that are a joy to behold and to work with. About 4000 tools, including adzes, gouges, axes and knives leave their workshop each year. Knives are made from a tool steel called in Swedish International Standard (SIS) 2140, which is a C, Mn, Cr, V -steel. They are heat treated to about 60 on the Rockwell Scale. Svante Djarv Backpack Axe. Small and light axe designed to take on outdoor/hunting trips, however as the bevels are flatish this would make a lovely little carving axe. Perfect for smaller carving projects such as spoons. Only 220mm (8 3/4) long with a ribbed Swedish elm handle. Cutting edge is 70mm (2 3/4) long, sharp and ready to use. Weight 400gms (13 oz). Rounded polished poll, useful when skinning on hunting trips. Includes a simple SD 2.5mm thick veg tan leather sheath. Svante Djarv Carving Knife, 20×100. Good knife to complement smaller carving knives, for projects such as spoons or coat pegs. Will happily perform big power stokes to remove lots of wood quickly, but despite its size, will deal with more delicate work. Hand forged partial tang blade made from high quality Swedish carbon steel, it will take and keep a great edge. 22mm (7/8″) deep at the handle end of the blade x 100mm (4″) long and 4mm thick. Bevels ground flat to approx 25 degrees however the polishing process can produce bevels that are slightly convex. The ribbed handle, made from Swedish elm, provides a good grip and is 110mm (4 1/4) long. Total length 210mm (8 1/4) long. Svante Djarv Carving Knife 8×50. Small hand-made knife designed for very fine carving. Djarv describe this as a’small knife for big control and strength. A knife for decorative surface engraving including karveskurd. Hand forged by Svante Djarv with a high carbon blade. Made with flat bevels ground to about 20 degrees, however the polishing process can produce bevels that are slightly convex. Total length 145mm (5 3/4″), blade 8mm (5/16″) deep x 50mm (2) long. Comfortable and grippy 110mm (4 1/4) ribbed handle in Swedish elm. Svante Djarv Drawknife 140mm. Fine and small drawknife. Elsa Djarv describes this as a handicraft drawknife…. For small people or for small work. The handles are cranked down slightly allowing use bevel down or bevel up. Use bevel down for concave work or for quicker removal of stock or bevel up for finer more controlled work. Normally used in conjuction with a shavehorse. Great drawknife for finer work, such as the final stages of sizing a tenon or a less intimidating tool for children. Made from Swedish tool steel, the straight edge is 140mm (5 1/2″) long, 20mm (3/4″) wide and 3mm thick. The single hollow ground bevel is ground to 25 degrees however the polishing process can produce bevels that are slightly convex. Delivered sharpened, honed and ready to use. Turned ribbed handles in Swedish elm are 90mm (3 1/2) long. Comes with a wrap-around style leather sheath made from 3mm thick waxy split leather, fastens with two poppers. Svante Djarv SMALL ADZE 600g is a rare hand-made adze by Swedish wood working tool specialist Svante Djarv. Comes with a WOODSMITH custom-made leather sheath. Lovely weighted adze in the hand, great for smaller and medium sized bowls. Will also shape any hollow feature such as chair bottoms. The weight, the head geometry, sweep and long flatish external bevel all conspire to make this tool work intuitively. There is a shorter bevel on the inside. Head length 140mm (5 1/2), from cutting edge to poll. The cutting edge from corner to corner is approx 45mm (1 3/4). Short 230mm (9) long handle in Swedish elm, ribbed for good grip and lightly oiled with linseed. Djarv Hantverk Mini Gouge. Handcrafted in Sweden by S Djarv Hantverk, this traditional 10 cm Mini Gouge (20 – 12) is beautifully finished to an exceptionally high standard. This gouge has a thin and short blade, which offers fine control. Svante Djarv Spoon Knife, Big (Right Handed). The Svante Djarv Spoon Knife, Big is a handmade larger bladed spoon or crook knife from Swedish tool makers S. This is the largest spoon knife from Svante Djarv. A longer curved crook knife to add to your spoon carving tool roll. It will deal with larger, tougher situations and in most cases leave fewer tool marks because of its shallower curve. Has a single external bevel flat ground to about 25 degrees, however the polishing process can produce bevels that are slightly convex. Comfortable ribbed Swedish elm handle is 110mm (4 1/4) long. Total length 165mm (6 1/2) long. Svante Djarv Mini Straight Hooked Gouge. The Svante Djarv Mini Straight Hooked Gouge 20-20 is a small palm tool. A small and tough tool to excavate the bowl of a kuksas and spoons. Use with the blank clamped up or for the more experienced with correct safe hand holds and tool grips. Turned handle in elm. Total length approx 160mm (6 1/4). Cutting edge approx 18mm from corner to corner.
