Master wood carver Nefale Negron created this “estampa puertorriquena” of a farmer grinding coffee (jibaro pilando cafe) sometime in the 1970’s-1980’s. Despite its age, the piece is in excellent condition. The “jibaro” moves slightly. He can be glued down if desired, but there is no need because he’s sturdy. Negron’s signature is on the bottom of the base (See photo). Measurements: Farmer is 3 in H. Wood base is 1/4 in H. Neftale Negron was born in Brooklyn, New York in the early 1960’s. Of Puerto Rican parents. Neftale learned to carve saints and other wooden figures from his father and is a master carver in his own right.
