This one of a kind Wood Carving was carved with a chainsaw and various power tools. It is a laminated carving meaning it is carved from multiple boards glued into a solid block and then carved, this means there are visible seams in the carving. The advantage to this method is that it greatly reduces the amount of checking (cracking) that will occur over time. Most chainsaw carvings are carved from raw timber round logs and they tend to crack as they age. I prefer to use the laminated process when carving the human face to prevent the risk of an unsightly crack forming on the face. This is an interior piece and should not be kept outside. It has been sealed with multiple coats of behr spar urethane giving it a very glossy finish. Since this was carved primarily with a chainsaw there are small Knicks and scratches in the wood. I lightly sand these spots with sand paper to smooth them out, but they are still visible. These little imperfections give the piece a rustic appearance and add character. The piece stands a little over 21 inches, is slightly over 9 inches wide, and 6 inches thick.
