Presenting a stunning hand carved Canadian Indian wooden wall carving expertly hand crafted and signed by the Kwakiutl Northwest Coast First Nations artist, Herman Bee. This exceptionally fine relief carving depicts a Killer Whale totem rendered in a traditional manner. This piece has been finely hand carved and beautifully finished with superb detail and a lovely depth of carving. This exquisite piece has been exceptionally hand carved from one solid piece of beautifully grained timber which has developed a lovely mellow patina that only time can bring. This flat-backed piece is designed to be displayed as a wall hanging with a small strap of leather attached to the reverse side. SIZE: This impressive piece measures approx 5 x 5.5 inches or 130 x 140mms. CONDITION: This fine example is presented in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, breaks or repairs. The timber has developed an appealing patina. This piece has been very well care for and presents spectacularly. MARKS: This piece is nicely signed to the reverse “Herman Bee Killer Whale Kwakiutl”. This superb carving would make a fine addition to any Herman Bee, Kwakiutl Indian or First Nations art collection.
