This is a stunning wood carving by Kenny Durham of Big Sky Carvers of Montana. It’s a life-sized ring-necked pheasant. The piece is all of one block and the body is just lightly stained and sanded to show shading suggesting primary feathers and subtle coloring. The head has the vibrant red cheeks of a male ring-necked pheasant on a green stained head. This piece is clearly created by a master. Note how the wood grain shows through and clearly suggests feathers. These pieces are rare on the market and highly sought after. This came out of the estate of a collector. See photos for details.
