I’ve made a larger fish with a “snack” but I have been dreaming about Making a fish snacking on a fish snacking on another fish for at least a year. Just so hard to lay out and execute. But I finally did it and I sure hope you like it as much as me?? . Calling this sculpture Double Snack Jumbo Maalaea Fish and she makes my heart happy!!! So this fish is made from all recycled materials, but this time this set of fish are made from scrap plywood my brother Derek gifted me. I knew I wanted the large fish to be full of color, how did I do??? And then the trick is always making sure the other fish are complimentary in color. I think I did good?? . And I pulled out all the stops for this piece, from its gorgeous shark tooth fossil, to its metal dragonfly to its fabulous hand carved tiki fork tail!!! This baby has more FishFry features than I can possible name. So I’m just going to hit the highlights. Let’s start off by talking about that eye. It’s made from an intracittly woven Coaster. I encircled it with rusty wire. I added a verigated wood napkin ring and glitter paper and added a Kone Brewing bottle cap I scavanged on the beach in Maalaea!! . Under the eye is a small cocktail fork in a gogous brown wood. That tail is my favorite feature and it sports a stenciled star a small sweet clam shell and a gorgeous fosssilized real sharks tooth!! The side fin is made from a metal basket I got at the thrift store. Nake sure you see the closeups on the row of fun flotsam and jetsam, a beautiful piece of frosty sea glass, a piece of lava from Maui, a teeny tiny limpet shell and a small rusty washer. The bottom jaw sports a number 3 with another scavanged bottle cap and a beautiful limpet shell also scavanged in Maalaea. The middle fish is a fun funky orange and yellow and it has a paintbrush tail a lemon wedge eye, a comb backfin and a Coca Cola bottle cap!!! The very smallest fish has some sweet blue polka dots and a wooden button eye. This crazy set of fish are extra special to me and I hope she sticks around a minute for me to enjoy before she goes to her new home. This girl is big. She measures 37″ across by 20″ high. Let me know if she belongs in your tide pool!!! ? This fish comes sanded, finished, signed and ready to hang??
