This well executed panel depicts a reclining nude female figure, carved with assurance and restraint. The elongated form is quietly sensual, its contours softened by the natural movement of the timber grain, which Dekker allows to play an active role in the composition. The carving possesses a calm intimacy and measured elegance characteristic of considered studio practice.
