Chris Olson is an artist in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His medium is often wood which he hand carves. This piece dates to 2000. It is signed on the bottom by the artist and numbered #18. The wood Olson often uses is pine and this does appear to be pine. Olson painted the torso and legs and drew skeletal features on the “head” and arms also adding some detailing on the chest and toes. Statement from the artist. In hindsight, I can say that I’ve always been a spiritual seeker, trying to understand the big “Why”. Taoism held my interest for a number of years, but Shamanism has captured it. I’ve spent many years studying various healing modalities, and have been on a Shamanic path for 11 years. I have finally come home to creating art as my spiritual practice. The figure is 9 inches high and 2 inches at the widest point.
