HAND-CARVED OAK LEAF & ACORN WALL PLAQUE. This listing features a unique solid wood hand-carved oak leaf wall plaque with 3 acorns. The wood is dense and dark, reminiscent of Germany’s Black Forest workmanship. It measures approximately 15 inches tall by 11 inches wide by 1/2 inches thick. This leaf is not at all fragile – it’s heavy at 3 lbs, 7 oz. And comes with a securely inset metal keyhole for hanging. The carved details are simply terrific. It is hand-stained and painted on both sides. The front is the same very dark brown as the back but has also been hand-mottled with what looks like 2 lighter shades of brown. This gives the piece a rich textural appearance and accentuates the 3-D carving. There is no signature but whoever made this knew their way around woodworking tools and paint finishes. Research found no others like it and I’m certain its new owner will adore it, especially if it is displayed in a rustic’mountainy lodgey cabiny’ style setting. Or maybe to accent a minimalist white shades only space. It’s a very special piece that will add charm wherever it takes root.
