Ironwood Cubist Musician Sculpture After Picasso Style Mid Century 9
Vintage hand-carved ironwood sculpture depicting an abstract Cubist musician figure, executed in the style of Pablo Picasso. The elongated form, stylized facial features, and integrated stringed instrument reflect strong influence from Picasso’s Cubist guitar and musician subjects. Carved from dense ironwood with a deep, rich patina. The surfaces are smoothly finished with bold, architectural lines that unify figure and instrument into a single vertical form. The carving reads well from all sides and has excellent presence for display. Unsigned, as is typical for many mid-century artisan and export carvings. Likely produced circa 1950s-1970s, during the height of Picasso-inspired modernist interpretations. This sculpture is offered as “after Picasso” / Picasso-inspired, referencing stylistic influence only. It is not attributed to Pablo Picasso. Good vintage condition with natural age wear and patina. Minor surface marks and base wear consistent with hand carving. No cracks or repairs noted.
