Hand Carved Original Wood Carl Hallsthammar Folk Art Figural Sculpture Rare! Signed / carved signature on front; theme: photography. This is a fantastic piece, featuring a man in a suit sitting at a desk holding a camera. The detail is stunning. Measures approx 12″ long x 10″ high x 6 1/4 deep. There are 3 known repairs – one is the head that has been re-attached, also a side of the base was re-attached. There is also what appears to be a crack (possibly also repaired but cannot tell for sure) along the desk in between the bell? And the desk paper, it runs all along the bottom of the sculpture as well, possibly broke off at one time and was fixed? One piece on the of the camera is missing – please review all pics! Swedish-American sculptor Carl Hallsthammar was born as Karl Emil Andersson in Sweden, where he started his studies in Mora/Dalarna. He immigrated to the United States in June 1923, where he changed his name to Carl Hallsthammar, in honor of his hometown Hallstahammar, but with one â?? He settled in Chicago, Illinois, where he completed his studies and founded his own school for wood carving.
