HUGE antique 1600’s hand carved polychromed wood religious Jesus saint sculpture
Up for sale is a very large antique 17th century hand carved Italian religious wooden sculpture. It’s carved with intricate detailing throughout and has a hand painted polychromed finish with rich color and has acquired a lovely patina from age. The statue depicts Jesus kneeling and praying while blood drips from his head. He measures 26 1/2 inches tall by 16 inches wide by 15 inches back to front. The statue displays wonderfully and overall in nice condition especially for age. It’s missing some fingers, a foot, and has a natural split to the wood in the backside.
