Antique/ Vintage Federal Eagle Wood Carving. In the style of John Haley Bellamy, but is unsigned. I was told it came off of a building in Vermont. John Haley Bellamy was a folk artist of New England, USA, known for his highly stylized carved wooden eagles and other decorative items for ships and homes. Measures about 31.5″ long overall x 11.5″ high. Very beautiful and detailed relief carving, classic Americana style and colors. There are a few very small chips in the black paint, mostly around the edges- see photos. The back has a wash or stain over the wood giving it a grey color, but you can see the wood color showing through in a couple spots.
