Fabulous Medieval Dragon Sculpture of Carved Wood Very Nicely Detailed 18th C
European in origin and dating from the 18th Century, possibly earlier, this is a fabulous depiction of a Medieval Dragon carved out of wood in outstanding detail. The ferocious beast stands on ready with claws and teeth bared and is perched upon a beautifully carved round mounting base that is reinforced with a heavy brass band. The Dragon has survived in very nice condition with only a little minor chipage on its head’s top horn and on the tip of one wing. Overall measuring about 17 inches long by about 10 inches tall with the mounting base measuring 8 inches in diameter.
