19TH CENTURY PAINTING / SCULPTURE. Approximately 13 ” By 4 ” CIRCA 1825 – 1850. This is one of those indescribable treasures that artists have left for posterity. Here, a piece of branch has been carved and sculpted by hand and then painted. The skill level is off the charts and the level of detail captured into the smallest space is truly remarkable! With this work the artist has kept the past alive. We can see the harbor and boats as they were almost two hundred years ago – simple craft with barely more than a sail and no motors or even steam vessels in sight! The tree is sculpted in relief and the artist was able to capture whole figures in the size of the head of a pin! The work is restful to look at. One senses this work was the patient joy of the artist, and this joy and appreciation of the moment and scenery has been captured forever! Two tiny holes to the wood where the work was probably hung well over a century ago. The signature uses old English script in use in the 18th and 19th centuries and we place an approximate date of the piece to 1825. This type of work is incredibly rare, most paintings of this kind and vintage simply haven’t made it to the 21st century. A marvelous acquisition for a fine art collector to display proudly! A Glorious 19th Century Treasure!

Vintage Stunning Wood Wall Décor Carving by Artis Glenn McCune!! Glenn McCune of willows, CA, retired from the U. Forest Service in 1984 and began carving for 30 years til his death in 2017. Although he did not consider himself a portrait artist, he would do special orders including portraits if asked. This is an incredible carving. It measures 15-1/4″ wide x 118-1/4″ tall x 1-3/4 in depth. The carving is of a older adult with a bandana with a flower. The person is looking upward with an intensity and serenity about it, making us wonder what they are seeing. The carving has some blemishes and imperfections, mainly around the edges. Some of it looks to be specs of paint. It weighs 7.8lbs. Please review the pictures for full details. It is truly an amazing piece from such a gifted artist. There is no original box. Just an absolute stunner folk art carving! Lovely size to this. Just about 19 inches in length. Can be displayed on a tabletop or you can fit a dowel rod into the prepared place if you wish to have it mounted on a stand. Just lovely grain and carving and hand-painted. Note the way the tail is fitted in. What do you call that… Expressive eyes to this wonderful creature. Obviously one of a kind and a wonderful addition to your nautical-themed decor / folk art decor! Truly a lovely showpiece. I only wish I knew who the artist/sculptor was.
