Strange & Mysterious Antique/Vintage Carved Wooden Statue / Sculpture; Oddity. Some of the unusual objects I have collected over the years clearly have a compelling back story, but I have no idea what that story is. This is one such object, both haunting and bizarre. It’s a true oddity. I have not seen anything like it. It is hand carved wood, approximately 19″ tall by 10″ wide by 5 deep. This is an old piece with signs of chipping, rubbing, cracking, and scratching which would have occurred over time with use. It also shows signs of old insect infestation. Beyond these observable facts I know nothing further. The figure feels religious or ceremonial. That is, it was not made as a decorative piece. What or who it represents I do not know. Many cultures refer to beings with multiple faces and heads. This is probably one such example.

This original one of a kind carving was made using a naturally aged and colored piece of Elderberry. It took approximately two years of aging the wood outside to achieve this color. The wood in my carvings has been responsibly reclaimed or freely given by mother nature. The carving measures 8 1/2″ long x 2 1/2″ wide from its widest points. This piece has a small hole drilled in the back. It can be hung on the wall with a strong nail or screw. The eyes are colored with acrylic paints. After carving and coloring, I seal all my work with multiple coats of lacquer, and shade the recesses with an oil wash. I sign and date all my work with the year in which they are produced. I have been carving for over six years, and I look forward to many more years of producing fine quality art just for you.
