If you are looking for decor that does more than just fill a space-artwork that tells a story and stops people in their tracks-then these vintage pieces by master sculptor. Are exactly what your collection is missing. Stephen Herrero doesn’t just sculpt; he captures the raw, untamed emotion of the American West. Famously self-taught, Herrero discovered his passion in the logging towns of Northern California, mastering what he calls the’wild magic’ of transformative wood carving. His signature style goes far beyond simple realism, blending powerful movement with a deep, spiritual reverence for nature, wildlife, and Native American heritage. While Herrero masterfully hand-carves his original designs from raw wood, these vintage collector reproductions are cast in Mill Creek Studios’ signature heavyweight resin and porcelain composite. They perfectly capture every intricate knot, deep woodgrain texture, and fluid carve line of the original masterwork, offering the timeless look of hand-chiseled art with the lasting durability of a high-end composite. Why These Pieces Are a Must-Own. From the Knot Knoggins line. These whimsical, expressive faces carved into faux-wood wood spirits. The’Connectedness’ of the Medium. Each piece features Herrero’s hallmark organic aesthetic-where the fluid form of a soaring eagle, a powerful wolf, or a reflective Native American elder seamlessly emerges from the natural grain and curves of the wood texture. Whether you are accenting a rustic mountain lodge, a cozy cabin, or adding a touch of earthy texture to a modern office, these sculptures invite intimacy and immediately elevate the room’s energy. Investment-Quality Vintage Folk Art. As the legendary founding artist of Mill Creek Studios, Herrero’s original vintage works from the late 1980s and 1990s are highly sought after by discerning art collectors and nature lovers alike. Don’t miss the rare opportunity to own a cohesive multi-piece collection by an American master. These are in great condition and are signed by Stephen Herreo! These aren’t just decorations; they are a timeless celebration of freedom, harmony, and the spirit of the land. Secure them today before they are gone!

Hand-carved from a natural root burl, this sculpture evokes a horned woodland creature -part deer, part mythical forest spirit. The artisan used the natural contours of the wood to form the head, horns, and muscular body, letting the burl’s organic textures create the illusion of fur and motion. A one-of-a-kind folk art piece, likely from the Pacific Northwest or Northern California, this sculpture perfectly captures the rustic artistry of letting nature shape the final form. Found in a suburban estate outside Vancouver Washington in the PNW. Measures 10″ long 9″ tall 4 wide. We do not warrant vintage or used electrical items.

This appears to be a vintage Aztec or Mayan Jaguar Warrior (Cuauhocelotl) hand-carved wooden statue. These statues represent the elite military order of the Aztec Empire, known for their strength and predatory skill. Motif: The sculpture depicts a human warrior emerging from or encased within the jaws of a jaguar. In Mesoamerican culture, the jaguar was a sacred symbol of power, night, and the underworld. The warrior’s face is visible in the mouth of the feline, a classic “dualistic” artistic style. Material: It is hand-carved from a dark, dense wood (likely Ironwood or Mahogany) with a deep brown/black stain. Inlay Work: The statue features significant bone or resin inlay (the white/cream sections). These inlays define the jaguar’s teeth, the warrior’s earspools, and the decorative patterns on the base and headdress. Dimensions: Based on the tape measure, the statue stands approximately 11 to 11.5 inches tall. Style: This is a piece of Mexican Folk Art, often produced for the collector market in the mid-to-late 20th century. The back is partially hollowed/flat, which is characteristic of certain artisanal carving techniques designed to reduce weight and prevent the wood from cracking over time.
