Offered here is a rare matched pair of hand-carved and polychrome painted wooden figures by listed American folk artist Adrian R. Both figures are signed “ARW” on the underside of the feet and date to approximately the 1920s-1930s, placing them among his earlier known works. The pair depicts a man and a woman rendered in Woodall’s distinctive faceted carving style. Both figures stand approximately 6.5 inches tall and display exceptional detail including individually carved fingers and expressive, dignified faces. The pair displays particularly well together, with a clear visual relationship and balance. Original dry polychrome paint surface throughout. Condition is excellent for age with normal antique wear consistent with approximately 100 years of careful storage. These figures have been in the same Kentucky family for decades, inherited from a great aunt who knew Woodall personally. He worked on her family’s farm as a young man, and the figures were acquired directly from the artist during his lifetime. This direct, personal provenance connecting the figures to the artist is exceptionally rare. Adrian Woodall was a self-taught sculptor born in Christian County, Missouri. Originally an optometrist, he began carving professionally in 1927 and eventually relocated to Florida, where carving became his livelihood and he taught wood sculpture at Florida Southern College. Here’s a new member to my cryptid creations… Sightings date back to the 19th century, with reports of strange noises and eerie encounters. The creature is often associated with local legends and tales of the supernatural. Some believe the Woods Devil is a manifestation of the region’s wilderness and its untamed nature. The legend continues to be a part of New Hampshire’s cultural heritage, inspiring stories and local tourism. This one of a kind masterpiece doubles as wall art or a free-standing sculpture, perfect for showing off your classy taste and love for unique MCM decor. Each heart-shaped leaf was torch-cut by hand and then creased to simulate leaf veins. The metal stems were meticulously intertwined with the natural wooden branch as art mimics nature. Ingeniously flexible for display, it has a loop so that it can be hung on the wall. The wooden branch serves as a stand for either vertical display on a shelf or mantle, or horizonal display on a coffee table. The signature is hard to read but we think it looks like George Dinsly. Vintage, Pacific Northwest “West Coast Portrait Mask” by Val Stickings-Duncan. The details, colors and addition of hair and palm are eerie and gorgeous. This was part of my uncle’s estate. Writing on back is translated from pencil to note paper. Has been in storage in a box for over a dozen years, since his passing. Once hung, the fibers should straighten out and hang down.

Beautiful handcarved wooden driftwood sculpture of a majestic eagle. This sculpture is signed L. MOSLEY on the bottom. Very nice piece in very good condition. The total height measures 11.75 tall. There’s one part that has a separation as shown. Im not sure if that was done intentionally but I included a closeup picture of it. Please examine all pictures and feel free to ask questions.
