Mad TV (stylized as MADtv) is an American sketch comedy television series created by David Salzman, Fax Bahr, and Adam Small. Loosely based on the humor magazine Mad, Mad TV’s pre-taped satirical sketches were primarily parodies of popular culture and occasionally politics. Many of its sketches featured the show’s cast members playing recurring original characters and doing celebrity impressions. The series premiered on Fox on October 14, 1995, and ran for 14 seasons. Its final episode aired on May 16, 2009. It won five Primetime Emmy Awards out of 43 nominations, all of which were for technical work. The show also won five Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards and three ADG Excellence in Production Design Awards.

My father and I visited/vacationed in Sonora Mex in the 60s-80s, sailing, fishing, and diving. We frequent the Kino Bay area, where a large population of the indigenous people known as the Seri. When this piece was made, there wasn’t much in the way of electric or modern tools. Therefore many of these pieces that I inherited from my Pa are all hand made. This particular piece is fabricated without any modern tooling. It is a thing of beauty, and is looking for a home that can appreciate it’s craftsmanship. Most of the ironwood carvings today are fabricated in small shops in the capital of Sonora, Hermosillo. These modern day pieces are much smaller due to the drying up ironwood. Large pieces of ironwood has all but dried up. This particular piece was made in the late 60s, making it at least 50 years old. It measures L18”x H10″x W8″, and weighs 19lbs. Vintage Frank Gallagher Cigar Store Indian. Stands 5 feet tall. Weighs appx 60 lbs. Confirmed authentic Frank Gallagher Indian. Will include letter in sale. Carved in the 1980s. Frank didnt start signing his Indians until the 90s. Thats why this one is unsigned. Has a crack in the drum base which is normal for wood carvings and does not take away from the value.
