18th c. Baroque Rococo Angel Carved Gilt Polychrome Wood 1760 German Cherub FACE

This mid to late 18th century fellow is most likely German or Austrian and is richly carved from linden with oustanding facial features and moppy hair. Measuring 8 5/8″ tall x 8 1/2″ wide x 3 1/2 deep, the face suggests a child’s portrait and the pigmentation appears to be of the period for the most part. The symmetrically arrayed wings boast much original gold leaf (on red bole/gesso ground) with areas of wear and dull gold indicating later bronze powder over gilding/touch-up. The wood is in very good condition (minimal or no worming) and there is some paint/gesso loss in his hair on top. He has been displayed for years and is dusty.

Antique French Louis XV Highly Carved Rococo Bed Walnut with Deep Carving

This nicely carved bed is from France and is in the French Rococo style of Louis XV. The bed is made from solid and veneered walnut with excellent hand carved details. The warm walnut coloring is outstanding and has a beautiful finish. This bed is in very good antique condition: there are minor nicks and scratches consistent with the bed’s age. Note that there are some cracks in the headboard and some missing pieces of trim on the rails (see photos). The rails are slightly bowed as well but still work fine. Dimensions: The headboard is 53.75″ tall, 78″ wide and 4 deep. The foot board is 57.75″ wide, 36.75″ tall and 3 deep. The original mattress opening is 75″ X 51″. Description of item for sale. Louis XV large Giltwood Mirror , Old ” Mercury ” Glass , Exquisite Curving Rocaille from the late 19th century , during Napoleon III , Around the 1880´s or so. This mirror was re gilt : had a new coat of 22k gold leaf applied to it in the 1990’s by Serge Nguyen Gold Leaf and Restoration. He and his team are one of the finest gold leaf artists in Paris.
