Primitive Folk Art Wood Bust Carving Sculpture Man In Hat European? Very unique, handsomely carved bust. Solid wood, nice smaller size for display at at 6.5 high roughly. I don’t know the wood variety but it’s a beautiful hardwood. The carving is clearly quite old, it has an unmistakeable smoothed over feel and patina. It recently came out of a regal old New England estate. It belonged to a prominent old American family with roots to the 1600’s. I haven’t been able to trace this statues origins with any luck. It’s in great old condition with the exception of a chunk missing near it’s left ear. The loss is quite old, you tell from the old patina that has formed. It may have even been present when the piece was carved originally. When looking at it straight on you down even notice the loss. Again I’m not even sure it wasn’t there when the piece was caved but you it needs mentioning. I hope it find a new home that will appreciate it. This item is in the category “Art\Art Sculptures”.
