Large hand made primitive Medieval knight wood carving sculpture measures 22 3/4″ long by 15 1/2″ across the widest point and varies from 1 1/2″ – 1 3/4″ thick. This looks to have been carved then fashioned together in sections. There is a nail on the back, which I’m assuming was attached for hanging, but I would think this really requires something more sturdy to hang, like a bracket for a wall anchor attachment as it is heavy, (just under 7 lbs). This is an old piece by unknown maker. The detailing and paint accents really lend to its striking appearance. In overall good condition, with the following noted: the tip of the feather accents on the helmet has broken off at the end, areas of missing paint, surface dust in spots, natural cracking to the wood. Despite the issues noted, this piece displays really well, even when standing up on a shelf and not being hung.

European in origin and dating from the 18th Century, possibly earlier, this is a fabulous depiction of a Medieval Dragon carved out of wood in outstanding detail. The ferocious beast stands on ready with claws and teeth bared and is perched upon a beautifully carved round mounting base that is reinforced with a heavy brass band. The Dragon has survived in very nice condition with only a little minor chipage on its head’s top horn and on the tip of one wing. Overall measuring about 17 inches long by about 10 inches tall with the mounting base measuring 8 inches in diameter. A genuine Renaissance treen lion circa 1500 AD This amazing lion is a mystery. Presenting beautifully on his own as a fine art object he was originally part of a paneled wall or perhaps even an earlier piece of furniture from the renaissance. But even more intriguing is the hidden compartment at the back of the lion. We can only guess what this compartment may have held- a treasure? Something so secret that nobody else should be allowed to see it or so precious it had to be hidden in a place that nobody else could find it…. The lion is in amazing condition for his 500 or so years of age. There are scuffs to the wood here and there and in parts it is darker than others. He does have age appropriate patina. The photos show these details quite clearly. He measures 6 1/2″ tall by 5 3/4″ wide by 2 1/8 deep approximately.
