Exquisite Ose (double-headed axe scepter) for Sango, with acrobat drummer, Yoruba wood carving by the late great. Master Akin Fakeye of the Fakeye carving dynasty. This is a profoundly beautiful example of the works of Akin Fakeye, from the famed Fakeye family of current day Ibadan and ancestral lineage of Ila Orangun. This work was made in the 1990s and has been lovingly cared for in family and sacred spaces-smoke pet free climate controlled environments. Experienced admirers of Fakeye aesthetics will notice key elements found in the expressions of each figure, body posture and extremity poses, and styling on the elements held in the hands of the “ere” or active figure. This piece has been part of a private collection of over 30 years and will be included in a future publication. Certificate of Authenticity included. 32″ x 5.5″ x 6.5.
