Sculpture 14.75 In. Tulip Poplar Woman 19.5 In. When I found myself back in this country, I cast about for something to do. My fathers wood working shop was not being used so I started to putter around making historic figures as marionettes. I soon cut the strings and mounted the figures on bases while leaving most with some movable parts. I think of my work as contemporary folk art: comparable to what our grandfathers would have made as toys for their children using the tools at hand. While these sculptures are not quite toys, I always hope theyll evoke a sense of playful evolvement with the viewer. The item “Pr.
