Extremely Unsettling Vintage Wooden Carving by G. An unusual and unsettling carving using 3 mediums; a figure that is repulsive in a way, causing disquiet in everyone who looks at it. My wife hates the figure, claiming it is haunted, and she insists that I get rid of it. But I can’t just throw it away. It has a sort of flesh-crawling beauty all its own. I discovered the figure boarded up in the wall of a house that I was restoring. The figure was covered in years of dust and filth; I brought it home and cleaned it up. It was so covered in filth that at first it was unrecognizable, and why it was boarded up in a wall is anyone’s guess. I worked on it a while, and as you can see, the figure cleaned up beautifully and in fact, the wood still shines brilliantly. Figure is in good condition, beautifully if strangely detailed. 2 of the fingers of the right hand are missing; whether intentionally or unintentionally I can’t be sure. The figure seems to be pleading pitifully with a grotesque expression of despair on his face. He seems to be uttering something as he looks helplessly on. It stands at 11 tall. There is a very weird message carved crudely into the bottom of the pedestal, which may be his utterance. The inscription reads: Oh God, we don’t see, we don’t hear, and we cry for peace. ” It is inscribed: “Carved by G. Your order includes a FREE collectible trading card too just for fun.
