“Two Raccoons in Hollow Tree”. This carving is 32 1/4″ high by 11 1/4″ wide. This is an original relief wood carving that I designed and carved in my studio. I carved everything by hand with power tools from one piece of kiln dried Pine wood. On this carving, most of the coloring, shading, and detailing is burned on by hand. I then hand painted the Raccoons with my own custom mixed lightfast pigment colored stains. The back of the carving is flat for wall mounting, and I carved a recessed flush mount hanger for a nail or screw head. I also hand engraved my signature and the year on the back of each carving. This carving gets two coats of quality finish. First, the wood is sealed with shellac, and then I brush on a coat of exterior grade U. Resistant Spar Urethane with a “satin” sheen. I painted the white primer and acrylic paint over this. This wood carving is intended for indoor use. If you want to place it outdoors, I recommend brushing on a few more coats of Spar Urethane/Varnish. Please let me know if you have any questions. God Bless you, Clint.
