A set of three sculptures; giant artist paintbrushes, carved wood with metal collars and multi-colored paint. The works are apparently unsigned but easily attributed to Livio de Marchi, Italian artist known for carved wood sculptures with a playful pop sensibility. Attributed to Livio de Marchi. Age and wear, some paint loss and damage to tips. Two are 46, ” one 41 1/2″. Livio De Marchi b. 1943 is an Italian sculptor also known as The Carpenter of Venice. Renowned for his whimsy, his monumental wooden creations merge craftsmanship with surreal fantasy. De Marchi has transformed Venice’s canals into dreamlike stages with life-sized floating sculptures, including a giant wooden violin and a full-scale Ferrari. Carved entirely by hand, his works blend technical mastery with playful imagination and are extraordinary spectacles. Very reluctantly parting with my most exquisite piece and knowing I’ll never find one again. Extremely rare one of a kind hand sculpted by the renowned studio of R. Pitz back in the early 80’s. Styled akin to Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit or other fantasy art. This HUGE wood carving has a hidden 2-cavity storage cabinet behind the shield. Incredibly unique and absolutely NO other piece like it is offered for sale literally anywhere! In fact while the Pitz studio still has done some pieces, they long ago abandoned the time, effort in handcrafting the large size figures. This is beyond RARE. A 10 wizard shelf piece with hidden storage. Exterior dimensions are approx. 29″ high x 16″ wide x 7 deep. Weighs almost 10 pounds. The piece is in excellent condition.
