1957 Wood Carving LAURENT FORTIN St Jean Port Joli Quebec Canada Man on Raft Wood carving/sculpture by Laurent Fortin. About 8 ½ x 5 x 6 inches. Stamped on the base: Laurent Fortin. Signed in ink pen: Trip to Quebec. Nicely aged with some expected patina. Laurent Fortin was a flat-plane carver in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Quebec, active in 1960s. He made carvings of traditional Quebec figures and scenes. His work was very finely done and his carvings are very expressive. This is an awesome vintage wood folk art lamp. I do not see a signature but I believe it is by G. There is so much detail in this piece and we have the wooden shade. The total heights is about 21.
