Bob Havel Signed Duck Hand Carved Wood Decoy Please Read Description. Made by master carver Bob Havel. Measures approximately 9 1/2″ L X 8 1/2″ H X 7 1/2 W. Please notice that there is a chip on the end of one wing. In my opinion it would be an easy fix if carefully done. I do not see any other damage. Please see all pictures. Born in Nebraska in 1934, Bob Havel is an extraordinary wood carver of decoys. He did not commence his hobby of wood carving until 1969 when he entered his first carving competition, The National Decoy Contest in New York City. There he won an Honorable Mention on his Bufflehead Drake. From 1969 to 1978 he had 50 straight ribbon winners in the five major decoy contests in the country. In April of 1976, in the World’s Decoy Contest in Salisbury, Maryland, he had 7 birds entered and won 3 Firsts, 3 Seconds, 1 Third and Best of Show. The wood he uses is Jelutong which originates in Malaysia. We do our best to accurately describe each item and to point out any imperfections.
