This is a truly exceptional antique mission oak wooden crucifix. It measures 26.25 inches long and 15 wide. The quality of the carving is fantastic. Many wooden crucifixes are quite crude, but this one is incredibly detailed and finely proportioned. It was done by a master carver. It has suffered some minor damage over the years. There is one wooden nail head square missing from the hands and some minor finger scrapes. The feet have some damage also as shown in pictures. The rest is incredibly intact. The artist has captured the emotion perfectly.

We obtained this remarkable bas relief sculpture piece by Margeurite Blasingame in late 2021 after it had been rediscovered by an eagle-eyed shopper at a thrift store in Miami, Florida. While a handful of Mrs. This is the only available bas relief we are aware of. The teak wood is a deep brown and measures roughly 3″ deep with a 1″ range from peak to trough of the sculpture itself. The piece is framed with a heavy brass frame and weighs roughly 18lbs. The work is attractive from the front, though the artistry is most evident when standing 15-75 degrees on either side; further, the subject seems to take on (or project) different emotions and themes depending the viewer’s vantage point.
