Up for sale is a beautiful, oversized vintage mid-century modern German folk art wood relief wall plaque. This unique, one-of-a-kind piece features an expansive, hand-carved bas-relief scene of ten children engaged in a playful game of tug-of-war. The craftsmanship showcases bold, stylized dark outlines and flat, earthy mid-century paint tones reminiscent of iconic German nursery art producers like Mertens-Kunst and Ravi. At a substantial 19″ x 8.25″, this striking horizontal panel is much larger than typical vintage German plaques, making it a perfect statement piece for MCM nurseries, playroom decor, or folk art collections. The natural wood grain shows beautifully across the background. Please see photos for exact cosmetic details. This is a one-of-a-kind piece. A couple of my photos of this piece exist on the internet due to my research. Hanging Hardware: Features an integrated, reverse-carved circular keyhole slot on the back for secure, flush-to-wall hanging without visible modern hardware. If you have any questions or want additional photos, please ask.

This unique wood carving features a female figure with many children around her, including cherub and cupid-like figures. Measuring 18 inches in height and about 13.5 inches wide. One-of-a-kind high relief wood carving / sculpture is handcrafted. The wall hanging piece is made of wood stained fairly dark and features intricate details, especially on the body and faces of the figures, making it a perfect addition to any art collection. Although the sculpture does not come with a certificate of authenticity, I believe this to be a genuine handmade piece. Add this stunning piece to your collection today! This piece is not obviously signed, as is, but there could possibly be a signature behind the main carving, which is not accessible due to it’s being screwed to at “backer” board. There is some fabric between the two pieces of wood, which may have, at some point, been wrapped around the outer board, as there also seems to be some adhesive residue on the back of it. There is a wire for hanging attached to the back of this piece. See photos for more details, and feel free to ask questions and make offers. Track Page Views With.
