These modernist figures feature intentionally rough, textured surfaces and open-form abstraction, characteristic of mid- to late-20th-century Brutalist and minimalist sculpture. This piece is signed T. MAKORE near the bottom edge as pictured. This sculpture measures about 8 inches in height and about 3 1/2 inches in width across the middle. There is some minor chipping on the upper right edge which does not affect the overall appearance of the piece. The wood base measures 3 x 6 inches and 1/2 inch in thickness. This item and was found at an estate sale and carries no COA. This sculpture is not attached to the base, but the base is included in this sale.

Southwestern Ironwood Carved 9 Quail Family Sculpture Driftwood Base VTG RARE. 12″ long 9″ high and 6 wide front to back with 9 quail on desert driftwood base. All 9 quail have marking on the post that fits in the hole and the hole has a corresponding mark. But could easily be moved around to change the overall appearance. Exquisitely done and in beautiful condition see all photos and closeups. THIS FIGURE ALONG WITH ALL THE REST CAME FROM A ELDERLY COUPLE WHO TRAVELED TO THE SOUTHWEST ARIZONA AND NEW MEXICO EXTENSIVELY IN THE LATE 1960S AND EALY 1970s and Acquired these on the many trips they made. UNTOUCHED HAS NOT BBEN OILED OR POLISHED.
