This is a fabulous work of art! This beautiful armadillo is a unique, interesting carving – standing with a ridged back and outstanding tail. It has a wonderful face and arms up. The painting is terrific. Many colors are used to make this piece a lively beautiful mosaic. Alebrijes are Mexico’s fantastic, imaginative figures – they are often called “creatures of the dreams and the imagination”. They are hand-carved and hand-painted of copal wood in Central Mexico where I travel annually to select affordable high quality and imaginative pieces.
