Antique Vtg Late 19th C 1800s Rare Hand Carved 12.5 Inch Black Forest Figure Dog
This offering is for a late 19th century hand seated figure of a young dog, likely made in the Black Forest region of Germany. The figure is made of a light colored wood, possibly pine or Linden wood, with an outstanding deep brown natural surface patina. The overall height is app. 12.5 and the base measures app. 7 across at the widest point. The carving is quite realistic with an excellent rendering of the pups fur. He presents with an intense playful feeling that just makes you smile. The surface is excellent with very very minor high point wear and a beautiful mellow surface patina that has never been touched. The condition is excellent with no breaks, cracks or repairs. If additional photo’s are needed or you have need of answers to questions we do not address we will be happy to supply them. Late 1800's Black Forest Hand Carved Wood Dog Sculpture Highly Detailed 8.5 Inch
Late 1800’s Black Forest Hand Carved Walnut, Wood Dog Sculpture. Highly Detailed measuring approximately 8.5″L x 6 1/2″H x 3 1/2W and weighing approximately 9.8 ounces. The sculpture is beautifully carved from the fur to the definition of the foot pads, toe nails and collar, this is just a magnificent piece with brown glass eyes and aged patina. It is very reminiscent of pieces by Walter Mader, who was a great Swiss wood carver in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s, but I have no paperwork to prove that it is his piece. He carved canines, exclusively. A great addition to any collection of fine Black Forest wood carvings. Very good pre-owned condition with a few small shallow age cracks to the under belly and under the chin if you view with magnification. Part of the front left paw has also been reattached, but it is difficult to see. My husband’s father and my father brought back many lovely pieces of jewelry, porcelain, clothing, perfumes, and household items to their new brides upon their return from Europe after WWII. Many of the items have gone to family, but there are still many items that need a home, and they are listed here. There are also other items, long held family treasures that also need to find new homes, as we have no room in ours for them. Many of them have been passed on from generation to generation over 100’s of years. We hope they find a home with you. I bought many gemstones, carvings, minerals, gold, and other fine items while in the jewelry industry. Please look at my other loose carvings and gems for design or collection.

Up for your consideration is a stunning French brutalist hand carved wooden bust of a Saint from the early 1800’s. This was picked up by my Grandfather somewhere in his many travels. He was a British Military Officer during World War II and later a Diplomat. This has been displayed in my home for many years. I put my hat on it when I come in for the day. It is heavy for its size. It’s most likely French and from the late 1700’s to early 1800’s. It likely came from a church. It could possibly be a hat mold. It works very well as a Stetson hat holder. At least that’s what I do with it. This antique 1800’s hand carved wooden Saint bust sculpture statue is a unique and one-of-a-kind piece of art from France. The medium-sized statue measures 12 inches in height and features intricate details, showcasing the craftsmanship of the Neoclassicism/Romantism period. This original statue, carved by a lost artist, is a beautiful addition to any art collection, reflecting the cultural significance of the era and the artistry of its time. Up for sale is a wonderful antique hand carved 19th century wooden bluebill duck decoy sculpture. It is beautifully carved with nice detailing and painted by hand. This flat bottom decoy has an applied rear lead weight along with a pull hook by the front. The decoy has inlaid two toned yellow glass eyes and is in nice used condition with normal ware. It measures 12 1/2 inches long by 7 inches tall by 5 1/4 inches wide. It has paint loss throughout as shown in photos and has some ware on the tail tip and top of the head.
