Hand carved by Master Carver Wayan Mesin from a solid chunk of crocodile wood, the wood has a beautiful clear grain, part of the nubby bark from which the wood gets it’s name is left on the carving. It is also a very dense wood with a clear tight grain. This carving is very finely carved with an amazing amount and attention to detail. The wood is left the natural color and has been hand waxed to bring out the color and grain of this gorgeous wood. Please review photos I have included above. Standing serenely upon a lotus base or padma, Kwan Yin radiates serenity & compassion. One hand is formed into a mudra or blessing, the other she holds the vessel of sacred holy water. She is a Bodhisattva who has attained enlightenment & may enter Nirvana, instead she chooses to remain on earth to bringing the gift of enlightenment to the world. Also known as a guardian of fisherman, protecting them from the sea.
