Here we have an Antique Lot of 9 BUCK BROTHERS Cabinetmaker Carving Chisels w/ ROSEWOOD or MAHOGANY Handles. Buck Brothers was formed in 1853 by John, Charles and Richard T. Buck in Rochester, NY, after immigrating from England and working for D. In 1856, they moved to Worcester, Massachusetts, then in 1864 to Millbury, MA. John stayed in Worcester as part of Buck& Reeves, later rejoining Buck Brothers as only an employee. Their edge tools are considered to be of the highest quality. All of the chisels are maker stamped and have their chisel model number. The handles are beautiful and made of either Rosewood or Mahogany (not sure). Only one handle has a tight crack. All of them have very good brass ferrules. There are duplicate chisel numbers, for example there are four No. 11 but they are all different sizes of a’V’ gouge’.
