VINTAGE 5 Headed Ghana Aburi Unity Circle Sculpture African Carved Sese Wood with beautiful faces. Height 19 , Weight 6 Lbs. Excellent vintage condition, some minor paint wear on a couple pieces, see photo. This large Unity Circle was carved from a single Sese tree root. It is an amazing process that takes incredible skill and talent to carve this without a seam. There are several artists in Aburi, Ghana who have mastered this art and produce something so beautiful and skilled as the Unity Circle. While carving, if the artist breaks the circle, it is discarded. The people of Ghana subscribe to the theory that strength comes from unity and the Unity Circle is a beautiful way to remind us all that when we stand together, we are stronger.
